Epigenetics literally means “around the genes”. In his book, The Biology of Belief, Bruce Lipton describes how your beliefs which create a mental and emotional reaction in the body affect the body physically through signals that directly affect the genetic expression of disease. He found that these mental and emotional stimuli are MORE important than the genes themselves in the disease process. Candace Pert agrees with this in her book, Molecules of Emotion. If what goes on around the genes is more important than the genes themselves, then we need to focus our energy on creating a healthy environment within the body. We can stop thinking of ourselves as victims to our genetics.
