It is very important to consider toxins when looking at a disease process. Toxins can include petrochemicals from plastic containers, xenoestrogens in our water from hormone therapies in urine being processed back through the water supply, heavy metals like mercury from amalgam fillings and medications, pesticides on fruits and vegetables, hormones in meat and milk, chemicals and even metals in cosmetics and personal care products, flame retardants on furniture and mattresses and more. Basically our food, water, environment, personal care products and medicine are poisoning us.
The Environmental Working Group did a study showing 287 chemicals in the umbilical cord blood of 10 newborn babies. Of these 287 chemicals, 180 are known carcinogens, 217 are neurotoxic, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animal tests. Toxins interrupt the signaling pathways in the body. Signaling pathways are necessary for the body to communicate with itself. Interruptions cause many problems including inflammation, pain, cardiovascular issues, weight gain, neurological issues and cancer.
